⁣Here’s the thing about working from home with a 5-year-old around: It’s hard to get anything done without being interrupted. ⠀
⠀
I’ll sit down, ready to focus, and predictably, there’s a sudden need for something, my work chair becomes his juggle gym, and my ‘office’ space his playground… ⠀
⠀
I’ll admit, sometimes it tests my patience.⠀
⠀
It’s like the second I settle into my work, I’m pulled right back into his world. ⠀
⠀
The constant requests for my attention can be overwhelming, but then I have to remind myself: he’s 5. My attention means so much to him right, and I get to be his whole world for now. ⠀
⠀
This whole balancing act of running a business while raising a curious, busy little human is a new experience for me. ⠀
⠀
When my kids were little, I didn’t have this business yet. They were old enough to come along with me to sessions as I transitioned from ‘hobbyist’ to ‘professional’. We were in a phase in life where I could focus more on my work without the interruptions that I’m learning to navigate now. ⠀
⠀
It’s been a journey—one that’s tested my patience, challenged me to my core, made me question if this was even do-able anymore, but most importantly, it’s shown me what I’m capable of accomplishing; what persistence will do even through all the interruptions, through all the noise, and the mess—it’s all part of this wild and interesting life and I’m figuring it out, pivoting, shifting and showing up one day at a time. ⠀

And I’ve been on all sides of parenting.

The first-time mom, unsure and overwhelmed.
The single mom, exhausted and feeling underappreciated, under-valued and largely unseen.
The mother of grown children, witnessing them making their own decisions and creating their own lives.
And now, in a season I never expected—raising a little one again when I thought I’d be stepping into a different phase of life.

The earlier experiences led me to the work I do.

Now, I see even more value in documenting these phases because I know the way chaos and love exist in the same breath.

But more than that, I do this because you deserve to be seen.

Parenting is not just a role—it’s a relentless, heart-wrenching, beautiful, back-breaking labor of love with no guarantees.

It’s messy and emotional and hard in ways that few acknowledge.
And yet, it is done selflessly, without pay, without recognition, without pause.

I want you to see all you do.
The messy, the real, the chaos, the love. All the things that deserve recognition and appreciation.

⁣Today—I made a salami, turkey, and banana sandwich for the very first time. 🍌🥪⠀

It was specifically requested from the 5-year-old living with me. It’s the kind of request that gives me pause, makes me think for a second, and then—I roll with it.⠀
⠀
Why? Because this is how we approach learning in our home.

It isn’t about hard and fast rules—it’s about allowing him to lead the way, trust his instincts, and embrace the freedom to experiment.

It’s about recognizing that it’s okay to make mistakes, to try things you don’t end up liking, and to get things wrong.

That’s where the real growth happens.⠀

Somewhere along the way, we’ve all been taught that failure is something to avoid, something “bad,” and that getting things wrong should be feared. But in reality, it’s through the trial and error that we learn what works and what doesn’t.

There’s no pressure to get it perfect the first time.

It’s about trying, failing, adjusting, and pivoting as you go—because that’s how we learn, grow, and discover what’s right for us.⠀

And this isn’t just about a sandwich—it’s a reflection of how we approach life with our best intentions.
